Private Health Insurance Reforms April 2019

Did you know there have been reforms to Private Health Insurance in Australia?

"The Australian Government has introduced reforms that will make private health insurance simpler and will help people choose the cover that best suits there needs". The reform includes the implementation of a simple set of policy tiers, which each include a minimum set of specific items, as you can see in the images below.

One highlighted aspect of these reforms is better access to women's healthcare, so if you have a pre-existing private health insurance policy I'd recommend contacting your fund to make sure what you've got suits your needs. This is also a good idea because changes may be made to your policy that you may not have noticed. One of the worst experiences about utilising and paying for private health insurance is thinking your covered only to find out that the item number associated with your medical care is excluded.
